22 Weeks

Baby Girl:

     At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. 

If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Me:

     Baby Girl is starting to kick a lot more.  Monday morning she kicked so hard that it actually woke me up.  I was laying on my left side and she kept kicking until I moved. I guess she was squished? Its a pretty amazing feeling.  While watching TV last night with Jake we got on the laptop to watch a music video. Jake wanted to see if baby girl liked the music he was playing. She didn't move much until I suggested he play Sara Bareillies - "Gonna get over you."  I really didn't honestly expect her to kick at all. I suggested it more because I wanted to listen to it. : )  It was really funny how much she kicked during that song! The only reason I can think of is I listen to music in the courier car for work. I guess I play that song frequently?  and loud?  Or maybe she's getting used to the type of music I listen to? Anyway, it was pretty amazing.
